Hello and welcome to my blog! I am a guest designer again this month for Christmas Craft Creations. By joining in on their challenge, you can win prizes and will see a lot of great card design inspiration.
Today, I reproduced a card from Honey Bee Stamps. I made a few changes and love the results. Here's how I made it:
I started with a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Cover Solar White 80lb cardstock. It is super smooth and so easy to ink blend on. Using Honey Bee's Tall Pines Layering Stencils, I brushed on shades of blues in Distress Oxides. I love Honey Bee's stencils because they are clear and have etched images to easily line things up.
Finished panel. I used Stormy Sky, Prize Ribbon, Uncharted Mariner, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxides. These blues are non-traditional tree colors, but give the scene a cool, dark look. I wanted this to be a night scene.
I used Dr Ph. Martin's Bleedproof white paint to create splatter. This was the first time I used this product. I usually use white gouache, but this turned out so much brighter!
I used Honey Bee's Snowflakes 3D embossing folder on a piece of heavyweight vellum. This is so beautiful, I didn't want to cover it up! I love snow and snowflakes...as long as I don't have to live in it! 🤣
The piece of vellum is longer than an A2 panel, so I could fold over some and adhere it to my tree panel.
This is the back of the tree panel. I trimmed it down to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I added a piece of strong double-sided tape to the top of the back of the panel. I scored the vellum at 5 1/2", and creased it. I will adhere this entire panel to an A2 card base, sandwiching in the overhang of the vellum for stability.
I used Simon Says Stamp silver glitter cardstock to make these snowflakes. They were cut with Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers: Large Snowflakes dies. I arranged them onto the front of my embossed panel, then adhered with Gina K Connect Glue. Pro tip: when attaching anything to an embossed panel, use a strong adhesive and add something heavy on top until it dries. Vellum is nonporous and this panel is 3D embossed. Both make it difficult to secure something to it!
For sentiments, I chose Peace, Love, Joy stamp set from Honey Bee. I used Brutus Monroe silver embossing powder to match the silver glitter paper; this adds shine. I cut the words out with coordinating dies. One thing I love about Honey Bee's dies is how they have dies for a lot of their sentiments and that they cut close to the word or words.
Finished card. Nothing says Christmas like glitter and shine! I'll be back in two weeks with more sparkle. You can see other glitter and shine inspiration at Christmas Craft Creations blog by clicking here.
