Welcome to my blog! I'm back today as a guest designer for Christmas Craft Creations. Christmas may be over, but not for me. I create Christmas cards all year. I love Christmas and also don't want to feel rushed at the end of the year to finish my cards.
I adore this holiday lantern card. I played around with adding snow to my project. It adds a lot of texture and interest.
I started by stamping images from Honey Bee Stamps' Pine & Berry Centerpiece stamp set onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. Since I was using Copics, I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
I used cool grays and Black for the lantern, warm grays for the candles, yellow greens for the holly, and greens for the pine sprigs. My go to reds for berries are R59, R29, R35, and R32. Pro Tip: with foliage, use different colors for different types of greenery to get a more organic look.
I added "frost" to the candles by using sparkle embossing powder. I added "snow" to the images with Hero Arts White Puff embossing powder. It goes on like regular powder, but puffs when heated. Pro Tip: add Versamark to areas you want "snow" or "ice," add powder, then use a dry paint brush to knock of where you don't want it.
I adhered the images onto a panel of Lawn Fawn Blue Jay cardstock that had been embossed with Honey Bee Stamps' Snowflakes 3D embossing folder. I ran Honey Bee Stamps Metallic Gold Pigment ink over the panel with a brayer. This adds a touch of gold onto the raised parts of images, creating a bit of sparkle and defining the snowflakes. For a sentiment I tucked "Noel" in-between the candles and Holly. Pro tip: I didn't like the white borders around my images. Once they were adhered onto the card base, I used Copic markers that matched the background on them. This makes those borders seem to disappear.
