Fairies Continued!
Today I wanted to share the making of another fairy card. This one is less playful and more whimsical. I love this stamp from Unity Stamp Company, but this is my first time using it. I decided to ink blend the background but watercolor the image. Follow along!
Items needed for this card are a card base, a piece of black cardstock, a piece of green cardstock, a piece of heavyweight white cardstock, Distress Oxides and Distress Inks or other color medium, blending brushes or other similar item, a paint brush, water, and masking paper of some sort.
I stamped Dragonflies and Fairies stamp onto Tim Holtz Heavyweight White Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black ink. I chose the paper because it is bright white and holds up to watercolor and ink blending. I used Versafine since it is waterproof.
I stamped the image again on Gina K Masking Magic. I cut out the main image. I wasn't worried about the dots and swirls I cut off because I'm going to restamp the image once I'm done ink blending. This masking paper is amazing! It's tough and reusable!
This is the card panel after ink blending, removal of the masking paper, and restamping. I used Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxides for this effect. You could use regular dye inks, watercolor, regular Distress Inks, etc.
Panel after watercoloring. I used Distress Inks for this, but you could use regular watercolors, Copics or other markers, or colored pencils. I finished the look off with Wink of Stella. I chose pink for her dress because it's my favorite color.
I finished the panel off by stamping the sentiment, then framing with green and black cardstock. Lastly, I added the entire thing onto a top folding A2 size card base. I really love how this card turned out. She seems so ethereal. I love fairies, but usually use more cartoonish images. I saw this stamp on another card on Facebook and had to have it. I'm so glad I finally got to use her.
